I filled in all of the holes with expanding foam The butyl flashing tape adhered really well to the rubber It was cold during the night! I had to warm up the spray foam every now and then Now there is 1.5″ of high quality insulation under the plywood instead of 0.25″ of the cheap stuff. Repeating the process moving towards the front of the bus I will cut these into long furring strips to insulate and support the roof and walls.
12/05/2015 Posted on December 5, 2015December 9, 2015 by TheBigBusTheory We found a little bit of rust on some of the support ribs. The fiberglass insulation absorbed moisture and held it against the metal. Luckily, the rust was superficial and only on the surface of the metal. I see you rust. You can’t hide from me! We used Rustoleam ‘Stops Rust’ spray paint to keep the rust from returning. We replaced the fiberglass insulation with DOW Styrofoam Finals are next week, so break time from bus work = study time for school This little 1500 watt heater worked way better than expected and only cost Some of the reclaimed styrofoam had nail holes in them, which I filled in using the spray foam. Then I cut the spray foam flush using a razor blade. We are updating our 3D model of the bus with some more precise measurements. We installed two 16ft LED strips to help us work at night. Eventually we will move the strips and install more of them, but for right now we are really happy with them.
